Can Market Data Tell a Tech Firm Where It Stands in the Cycle?

Can Market Data Tell a Tech Firm Where It Stands in the Cycle?

Hemang Subramanian, Yilin Xu

Models can place tech firms in the business cycle well within cycles they've seen. In a later cycle they fail (macro-F1 falls from 0.975 to 0.379), and sentiment data doesn't help. Downturns significantly hurt ROA, sales growth, and Tobin's Q, and R&D-intensive firms are hit harder, not cushioned.

Built to Predict: A Research Agenda for AI in Real Estate Finance

Florent Rouxelin

AI can extract lease clauses for smart contracts and uncover property attributes conventional valuations miss. This article connects these advances to borrowing terms, tradable ownership claims, and data-center investment shaped by power availability, cooling capacity, and fiber connectivity.

  • AI Medical Devices Carry 2.5 Times the Recall Risk of Non-AI Devices
AI Medical Devices Carry 2.5 Times the Recall Risk of Non-AI Devices

    Jong Youl Lee, Anqi Wu

Using FDA data on 26,535 medical devices cleared from 2004–2024, we examine whether AI-enabled devices face different post-market safety risks. AI-enabled devices show about 2.5 times the hazard of first recall, driven by design and software failures. We translate these patterns into a decision-support model for allocating validation resources.

Impact of Artificial Intelligence on ESG Issues

    Krishnan Dandapani

Nearly 100 GW of new data centers will be added between 2026 and 2030, doubling global capacity to meet the enhanced AI demands. Given the expected 14% CAGR through 2030, significant environmental and energy innovations are needed to alleviate grid and water constraints. In this work, we examine the economics of data centers from a revenue and environmental perspective.

From Ambiguity to Action: How Healthcare Organizations Engage in Disruptive Sensemaking to Implement Generative AI Strategies

    Attila Hertelendy, Maria Campo

This interpretive case study of a large Florida health system examines how clinicians, administrators, and IT staff make sense of a generative-AI tool embedded in the Electronic

AI-Generated Search Summary Warning Messages Increase Verification Behavior

    Arjun Kadian, Manjul Gupta

This research examines how warning messages provided along with AI-generated summaries influence information verification behavior. We conducted an experiment in which participants were randomly assigned to three conditions: no warning, a generic warning, or a source-specific warning. Verification behavior was measured through source-link clicks and time spent on the source webpage.

  • Cultural Work Ethics and AI Adoption: How AI Use Shapes Performance Evaluations Through Effort and Competence Perceptions Across Four Countries
Cultural Work Ethics and AI Adoption: How AI Use Shapes Performance Evaluations Through Effort and Competence Perceptions Across Four Countries

    Chaitali Kapadia, Kisha Jones

Across two experiments with 1,000 working adults in the U.S., India, and South Korea, we test how disclosing generative AI use shapes performance evaluations. Disclosure lowers perceived effort in every country, but whether that translates into lower ratings, bonuses, and future assignments depends on national context and evaluators’ work ethic.

Forecasting Nonlinear Firm Performance: Global Forecasting Models vs. ARIMA

Marc Weinstein, Stav Fainshmidt, Carlos Parra, Arturo Castellanos

This study examines whether rising profitability persistence reflects stronger competitive advantages or changes in the firms being compared. Using 15,918 U.S. listed firms from 1990–2025, we compare changing firm populations with continuing firms to distinguish incumbents’ collective standing from differences among incumbents.

  • Can AI Chatbots Replace Human Customer Service in Banking?
Can AI Chatbots Replace Human Customer Service in Banking?

    Julia Chou, Chen-Huei Chou

This study evaluates AI-powered chatbots used by leading U.S. banks through standardized tasks across ten categories. We compare online-only banks with traditional banks operating physical branches and assess accuracy, precision, and failure rates. Results reveal significant performance variation and suggest that banking chatbots primarily complement, rather than replace, human customer service.

A Review of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Financial Accounting & Reporting Research

Michael (Minye) Tang, Kelly (Xiaochuan) Huang

This project reviews the growing body of research on artificial intelligence in financial accounting and reporting, mapping what is known about AI's impact on auditing, disclosure and financial statement quality.

  • AI as a Relational Signal
    AI as a Relational Signal

    Umair Usman

This research introduces perceived brand social capital: consumers' perceptions of how strongly a brand is tied to their local community. Across seven studies (three pre-registered and four supplemental), a brand's AI use lowered perceived social capital and, in turn, loyalty, especially for small brands. Visible community involvement buffered this effect.
