Helping Students to Cross the Finish Line
When Nicola Liotto, an FIU Business student from Italy, worried that his financial situation would force him to delay graduation, drop classes or even take the fall 2023 semester off, he turned to his advisor for guidance and found assistance in the Dean’s Destination Fund. He received financial help for the semester and used the funds to cover tuition.
Scholarship Eases Financial Burden and Inspires Accounting Students
Hard work and perseverance paid off for two FIU Business undergraduate students who needed an extra boost to obtain their accounting degrees. Both academic achievers earned the Argiz Family Eminent Scholarship, allowing them to level up their accounting tools and help pay for out-of-state tuition.
Scholarships Help Single-Parent Students
Taking college classes as a single parent of a young child isn’t easy. Just ask Jenny Reina, mother of 8-year-old Mateo. She was an FIU Business finance major and a single mother who has had to ask for help from friends. When searching for a scholarship, she was surprised to find one for single parents.
FIU Friends and Alumni Smooth Student's Path
By the time the COVID-19 pandemic escalated, Isis Jordana was struggling. Having left her entire family behind in Cuba, the 24-year-old was on her own, paying rent, working in real estate and studying for her bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance at FIU Business. That is when scholarships saved the day.
Honoring a Family's Resilience by Lifting Students in Need
Ricardo Vazquez is an international relations student who expects to graduate this spring. Yet as the 2021–2022 school year loomed, he knew he might need assistance if he was to actualize his dreams of impacting educational policy for underserved populations. Many of his issues were alleviated when he became one of the two first recipients of a scholarship funded by the Faustino and Mercedes Grana ("Lalo" and "Lala") First Generation Scholarship Endowment.
A Unique Support System for Real Estate Students
FIU Business student Sofia Toro was earning a competitive salary as a luxury auto sales manager, but the job did not leave her enough time for her undergraduate studies. As she was contemplating leaving school or transferring, she found herself scouting an FIU scholarship website in search of financial aid. Her hopes rose when she spotted several real estate scholarships.
