Professional Activities
Ziyi (Iggy) Zhao is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Business Analytics at Florida International University's College of Business. Her research investigates how AI, generative AI, and agentic AI are reshaping the future of work, with a particular focus on coding, information seeking, and clinical decision making. She studies how individuals and organizations collaborate with intelligent systems and the behavioral mechanisms underlying human and AI interaction, drawing on experiments, econometrics, machine learning, sequence modeling, and computational process tracing.
Her work has been presented at leading venues including the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the INFORMS Annual Meeting, the International Conference on Information Systems, the Americas Conference on Information Systems, the AI and the Future of Work Conference at the Wharton School, the Conference on Health IT and Analytics, the NYU Stern AI and Collaborative Innovation Workshop, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and the Harvard Business School MOM Workshop, among others.
Her research has been supported by Google, Google Cloud, the Kauffman Foundation (through the AIS Entrepreneurial Innovation Fellowship), the Society for Information Management, and FIU. She has been recognized as an AIS Distinguished Member (2026), received the AIS issued Outstanding Editor Award for Information Technology for Development (2026), and won the Best Emerging Research Forum Paper Award at AMCIS 2025. She earned her PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from Temple University.
