Professional Activities

Dr. Castillo, Alfred did his undergraduate studies in Computer Science, and received his Masters and Ph.D. in Information Systems at Florida International University. He was an Assistant Professor at California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly) until recently moving back to Miami, FL to join the faculty at Florida International University. He primarily mentors doctoral students, but has taught courses in Blockchain, Data Management, Data Mining and Business Analytics, Business Application Development. His research focuses in these areas and have been published in outlets such as Journal of Medical Internet Research, Decisions Support Systems Journal, International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, International Conference on Information Systems, SIG Systems Analysis and Design, and many others. Prior to academia he worked for over a decade with the DoD in Quantico, VA as a U.S. Marine and managing critical infrastructure for Miami-Dade County.
