Professional Activities

Professor Soltero brings 25 years of progressive experience in product development, managing teams, B2B and consumer sales and marketing, including high-tech capital products and consumables. He has extensive Latin American and Worldwide field experience in establishing new country sales and distribution networks. He served as Director of Latin America for the Digital Printing Business unit of Eastman Kodak for 7 years. He has served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for three different companies selling in America, Japan and Europe.

Professor Soltero joined FIU as an adjunct professor in 2012 and as a full time instructor in 2014. He is currently an Associate Teaching Professor and Co-Director of the FIU Global Sales Center.  He has been teaching face-to-face and online Personal Selling, B2B Marketing and Sales, and Sales Management courses, and developed and teaches Engineering Entrepreneurship, Engineering Business Planning, and Introduction to Business Decision courses for the FIU College of Engineering and Computing. All three courses are part of the Entrpreneurship concentration for Engineers. He developed and teached the first Technical Sales for Engineers in 2023.  He continues to develop and deliver Executive Training sessions for national and international companies, delivering the training in Spanish and English. 

Professor Soltero is a faculty advisor to three student organizations at FIU:  FIU Sales Society, AKPsi and American Marketing Association.  He is an active participant and coach for the FIU Sales Society. He coaches the FIU Sales Team that competes in the ISCS, AMA, NTSC, NICS and NCSC collegiate sales competitions. 

Professor Soltero has been married to Edna for 40 years and has one son, Rafael Eduardo, who is a dentist (DDS) in Broward and is married to Patricia Soltero.  In October 2024 his first and only grandson, Luca Rafael, was born.
