Financial Assistance

  1. Presidential Fellowship: Utilized for the recruitment of outstanding PhD track students to graduate programs at FIU. Each fellowship provides a three-year award package to the fellow. A separate application is not required as the fellowship is based on a departmental nomination.

      • $30,000/ year
      • 2 years of stipend support from the University Graduate School (UGS)
      • 1 additional year of funding support from the fellow's graduate program (as a Teaching Assistant)
      • 3 years support via tuition waiver and health insurance from the UGS

  2. McKnight Fellowship: Designed to address the under-representation of African American and Hispanic faculty at colleges and universities in the state of Florida by increasing the pool of citizens qualified with PhD degrees to teach at the college and university levels. Newly admitted doctoral students who have been awarded a McKnight Fellowship from the Florida Education Fund are eligible to receive UGS Enhancement Funding.

      • $12,000 from the Florida Education Fund for the 1st 3 years
      • $10,000 from the University Graduate School for the 1st 3 years
      • Two additional years of funding support from the fellow's graduate program (as a Graduate Assistant)
      • 5 years of support via a tuition waiver and health insurance

  3. Graduate Teaching Assistantship: The College of Business awards a limited number of Graduate Assistantships to its incoming Doctoral Students. The assistantship includes a tuition fee waiver and a $25,000 stipend per academic year for up to, but not exceeding four academic years. Semester fees such as athletic, health and parking are not covered by the assistantship. A separate application is not necessary for consideration, as the fellowship is granted to applicants admitted into the program.

Tuition and fees usually change each academic year. Tuition and fees are set by the State of Florida at the beginning of the fall semester for the coming academic year.

Resident tuition and per credit fees for the 2016-2017 academic year (24 credits): $10,935.36*

Non-resident tuition and per credit fees for the 2016-2017 academic year (24 credits): $24,040.56*
