Curriculum

The program’s curriculum covers all aspects of a business, emphasizing soft skills developments and practical application of the learned content through an optional residency in Madrid.

This program's international nature will enable students to obtain the broadest possible perspective on all existing sports management models. This institutional commitment will exponentially improve the scope and professional possibilities of our students. Ultimately, you'll be able to impact your organizations and drive meaningful change.

During 14 or 17 months, students will take 14 courses.

Courses from Florida International University

  • Accounting for Managers - ACG6026

    Presentation of the nature, techniques and uses of accounting from the perspective of people who manage businesses and investments in businesses. Covers both financial and management accounting.

  • Business Law for Entrepreneurs – BUL6656C

    This course provides an in depth study of current legal issues for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Topics: forming and operating a business; raising capital; negotiating contracts; hiring.

  • Competitive Strategy - FIN6446

    Provision of tools for managerial decision-making in a variety of competitive environments including demand analysis, short- and long-run costs of production, demand for factors, market structure and competitive strategy.

  • Corporate Finance - FIN6406

    In-depth examination of asset, liability and capital structure management, with emphasis on valuation capital budgeting techniques; risk evaluation; working capital management; and methods of short-term, intermediate and long-term financing. Prerequisite: ACG 6026.

  • Business Analysis for Decision Making - QMB 6357

    Review of the relevant quantitative techniques required for business analysis and decision making, including decision models, mathematical programming, statistics and forecasting. This is an Excel based course. Prerequisites: College Algebra, computer literacy and working knowledge of Excel.

  • Strategic Management - MAN6726

    The use of cases, guest lectures, and gaming to integrate the analysis and measurement tools, the functional areas and public policy issues. The objective is to develop skill in broad areas of rational decision-making in an administrative context of uncertainty.

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis - ACG6175

    Comprehensive treatment of analysis of financial statements as aid for decision making; looks at current state of financial reporting practices and impact of published statements on economic systems. Prerequisites: ACG 6026 and FIN 6406.

  • Management of Information Systems - ISM 6021

    Introduction to information systems and their role in organizations from a user’s viewpoint. Survey and application of the basic concepts necessary for understanding information systems. Study of the main activities in the development cycle used to acquire information systems capability.

  • International Business – MAN 6608

    This course examines the environmental variables affecting international operations, trade and investment theories, international institutions, and regional economic groups. It also focuses on international finance, international accounting, international marketing, and international management problems and issues.

  • Marketing and Communications I

    Learn essential marketing and communications to impact the overall strategy of a company. Analyze new trends and different practices in the international sports market.

  • Managerial Skills and Human Resources

    Learn essential leadership skills for effective employee management so that organizations can fulfill their obligations to all stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurship and Sports for Development

    Learn how to develop business projects based on social responsibility and sustainability criteria.

  • Marketing and Communications II

    Examine how the use of communication in the sports industry has changed and requires specialization.

  • Sports Facility Operation

    You will work with sports or sports facilities that require specific knowledge and skills that go beyond the experience gained through the management of regular facilities.

  • Economics (optional)

    Learn the basic financial concepts and how to apply them to the sports industry with their distinguishing characteristics.
