About DSAB

The Dean’s Student Advisory Board (DSAB) is the highest-level student leadership body within FIU Business and serves as the umbrella organization for all business student organizations.

DSAB provides strategic oversight, alignment, and collaboration to ensure that student organizations operate in support of the Dean’s vision and the College’s strategic priorities. Through this structure, DSAB strengthens unity across organizations while maintaining a shared commitment to excellence, professionalism, and impact. Membership on DSAB reflects a high standard of leadership, initiative, and dedication to the advancement of FIU Business.

Qualifications

Membership on the Dean’s Student Advisory Board is reserved for students who demonstrate leadership excellence, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the advancement of FIU Business.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate business student (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Have completed at least one academic term at FIU
  • Be in good academic and conduct standing with the University
  • Demonstrate a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Be willing to dedicate 4–5 hours per week to DSAB responsibilities

Member Duties

  • President
    • Serve as the primary contact point for the Dean and Board members; communicate concerns, opportunities, and initiatives.
    • Direct meetings and work with Board members to organize agenda points for all weekly DSAB meetings.
    • Attend FIU Business events as the main student representative for DSAB.
    • Conduct Presidential Meetings to ensure all business organizations are aligned.
    • Ensure DSAB members remain active and take further action if necessary.
    • Serve a maximum of two semesters.
  • Vice President
    • Attend FIU Business events as a representative of DSAB (with or in place of the President).
    • Work with the Operations Director to maintain Board records and detailed meeting minutes.
    • Assist the President in ensuring Board members are actively fulfilling their duties.
    • Work with the Marketing and Communications Director to ensure marketing initiatives align with Board goals and the President’s vision.
  • Marketing and Communications Director
    • Oversee social media and the content calendar.
    • Create content for FIU and FIU Business events and support key communication initiatives.
    • Actively post, comment, tag, and engage across platforms.
    • Maintain DSAB brand standards and find creative ways to captivate students and the community.
    • Arrange logistics for content creation, photography, and marketing needs.
    • Stay updated on social media trends, best practices, and technology.
    • Proactively engage with followers and create content based on engagement analytics.
  • Digital Marketing Member
    • Design and present social media promotions for other student organizations.
    • Monitor and manage DSAB’s social media platforms.
    • Determine high-impact content to increase engagement and traffic.
    • Create flyers for upcoming FIU Business events.
    • Consult with the Marketing and Communications Director for content approval.
  • Operations Director
    • Work closely with the Vice President and President on meeting minutes, action items, and administrative duties.
    • Support Directors with key administrative responsibilities.
    • Oversee DSAB events and planning.
    • Support the President and Vice President on major decisions, including onboarding new members.
    • Create DSAB events that support the Dean’s and President’s vision.
  • Logistics Coordinator Member
    • Assist in planning the structure and flow of events.
    • Help determine timelines and execution strategies.
    • Coordinate plans and receive approval from the Operations Director.
    • Oversee day-of-event logistics and execution.
