Professional Activities

Dr. Florent Rouxelin is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Florida International University. His research focuses on blockchain and cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence in finance, sustainable finance, and foreign exchange market. His work has been published in academic journals including The Accounting Review, Decision Support Systems, and The Journal of Portfolio Management.

At FIU, Dr. Rouxelin teaches courses in financial innovations and international financial management at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He developed the Master of Science in Finance course Financial Innovations (FIN6457C), which introduces students to topics such as blockchain and digital assets. His teaching has been recognized with the Faculty Senate Excellence in Teaching Award (2024), the Recognizing Excellence in Teaching Initiative Award (2025), and the FIU Online Course of the Year Award (2026). He also received the Students’ Choice Best Course Award (August 2024, December 2024, August 2025, December 2025) and the Students’ Choice Best Professor Award (August 2025, December 2025).

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Rouxelin advises firms on matters related to blockchain, digital assets, and quantitative financial modeling, connecting research with practical applications.

Dr. Rouxelin earned an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. His training across engineering and finance informs both his research and his teaching.
