Program Residencies

Professional development is a life-long process. The Professional MBA program at FIU Business is an important step in that process, but it is neither the beginning nor the end of the acquisition and improvement of new competencies. The mandatory Professional Development Residencies offer a series of instructional modules for MBA students, combining crucial fundamentals with exposure to globalized real world experiences. These modules– in a variety of instructional formats throughout the program – are designed to make the MBA graduate savvier, attuned to people and markets and ready to take on new business challenges for a company or for themselves.

Micro-Credentials

Enhance your skills and resume by pursuing one of our micro-credentials that aligns with your career goals.

  • Business Model Design and Innovation

The Business Model Design & Innovation micro-credential integrates design thinking with business model innovation in the digital era. Through case studies and hands-on design thinking activities, students learn why business models are critical to close the gap between strategy articulation and successful strategy execution. The increasing disruption experienced by all companies and sectors due to the convergence of global megatrends, rapid technological change, and constant business innovation means that even great business models don’t last forever.

  • Leading Remote Teams

The Leading Remote Teams micro-credential provides strategic and tactical best practices for developing and sustaining a high performing remote team.  The program topics cover key leadership considerations for engaging with team members, developing processes, and identifying needed infrastructure for success in today’s remote working environments. Students will learn the fundamentals of addressing remote team challenges.

  • Project Management Principles

The Project Management Principles micro-credential gives professionals the tools to explain what Project Management is and its importance for organizations and leaders from an executive point-of-view. You will be able to differentiate between Project Management/Change Management and how these two fields complement each other. This micro-credential encourages learners to apply a modern approach to Project Management and develop a Project Management style best suited to their needs.

  • Management Consulting Process

The Management Consulting Process micro-credential provides best practices for MBA professionals in-training to provide expert consulting services to leaders of organizations to enable them to accomplish their performance goals. Students will be exposed to hands-on consulting opportunities working with actual live cases as well as advanced case studies. The micro-credential focuses on an overview of consultants’ skills, roles, key processes, contracting with clients, accountability, ethical obligations, use of data, organizational performance diagnosis, intervention methods, managing change, tracking performance, building coalitions, capturing results, and follow-up strategies with the client.  It also develops participant competence in managing the performance of management consultants who work for them.
