Robert Grillo

Robert Grillo has served as the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Florida International University since June 2011, where he leads the division with a commitment to delivering innovative technological advancements to the university community. Under his stewardship, FIU has advanced its position as a top 30 public institution through the strategic facilitation of Artificial Intelligence tools, the implementation of Business Intelligence analytics for student success, and a comprehensive cloud strategy for enterprise-wide applications. His leadership has also prioritized institutional security and research capabilities, evidenced by the deployment of a robust cybersecurity strategy and the expansion of high-performance computing and 100G network connectivity to support faculty research and federal grant pursuits.

Beyond his work at the university, Mr. Grillo recently served as the Chair of the Florida LambdaRail Board of Directors from 2020 to 2024. His professional background includes leading the consulting division for PeopleSoft Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as serving as a healthcare industry specialist for Andersen Consulting LLP (currently known as Accenture). Recognized as a three-time HITEC top 100 most influential and notable Hispanic Progessionals in the Information Technology Industry, he was also recognized as the CIO Honoree for Miami-Dade by the South Florida Business and Wealth Magazine’s Apogee Awards, and received the Center for Digital Government’s Cybersecurity Leadership and Innovation Award. Mr. Grillo holds a Bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and a Master's in Finance from Nova Southeastern University.
