About FIU BusinessCivic Engagement Initiative

The college’s Civic Engagement Initiative is designed to engage students in several major projects that provide outreach opportunities to our students and faculty and highlight the importance of civic engagement—a key way in which the college shares its knowledge, expertise, technology, and resources with the community.

Civic engagement opportunities are often integrated into the curriculum in the Professional BBA program, management, accounting, and real estate courses, and in a Service Learning course which is one of the few business school courses in the country dedicated entirely to this subject.

Our students have been actively involved with the community, both in South Florida and abroad through:

  • International Business Honor Society
  • Alternative study abroad programs in Nicaragua
  • Eye Talker a text reader for the blind in the form of glasses with a headset.
  • eMerge Americas
  • IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center (VITA)
  • PBBA Weekend Autism Project Report
  • The Miami Benefit Club
  • Partnering and Serving at Miami-Jackson High School
