The conference was held at the Palazzo Doria-Tursi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As FIU Business continues to set the bar for a global approach to education, thought leaders in higher education gathered at an outpost of FIU in Genoa, Italy for the annual Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE) conference. CUIBE is a collaborative network of leading undergraduate business schools dedicated to advancing the field of international business education.

“In our global economy, relationships and connectivity are essentials for international business success,” said Donald Roomes, professor of international business at FIU Business. “My greatest takeaway is that our college can build on our presence in Genoa to provide the perfect setting for exploring such connectivity and for using that knowledge to shape more impactful international experiences for our students.”

Over the course of three days, from March 14 to 16, faculty and administrators from universities around the world discussed the needs of their international business students. Thirty-one universities were represented at the conference, including the University of Adelaide in Australia; EAFIT University in Colombia; and the University of Economics Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam.

From understanding the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to challenges posed by artificial intelligence, the dynamic exchange of ideas led to some creative solutions. The overarching theme of the conference was about delivering more impactful international experiences for students.

Participants took advantage of the many culturally and historically significant sites of Genoa, including the Palazzo Doria-Tursi, where the CUIBE conference took place, as well as the Strada Nuova Museums. A UNESCO designated World Heritage Site, construction of the Palazzo Doria-Tursi began in the 1500s and is now home to the Genoa City Hall. The CUIBE gala was held at the historic 17th century Villa lo Zerbino, located in a suburban area of Genoa.

As the No. 2 ranked undergraduate international business program in the U.S., FIU Business fosters the student experience through several opportunities for experiences around the world. One example is FIU Genoa, a showcase of education abroad opportunities, dual degree programs, research and education partnerships.
