Karina is a business-to-business (B2B) marketing expert with over a decade of experience with tech, SaaS, and LSPs. She played a pivotal role while founding a B2B SaaS startup in Brazil that focuses on AI applications in the manufacturing field. Investing in her professional career, Karina moved to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree in marketing while working on data collection projects with industry leaders such as Amazon, Intel, Sonos, and Google.

Currently, Karina is the Marketing Coordinator at Summa Linguae Technologies—an LSP leader in the linguist market—where she contributes to transitioning from traditional localization to data solution services, collaborating with big tech companies in fine-tuning their LLMs. In the meantime, she serves as the CEO and ABM strategist at Whim Pink, her marketing agency that helps international SMBs establish operations in the U.S. with effective marketing and sales growth strategies.

Octavia Cordy

Recreational Therapist and Administrator | City of Port St. Lucie

Octavia Cordy is a recreational therapist and program administrator with 17 years of hospital, park, and recreation experience. Octavia is a current DBA student and has an MBA and bachelor's degree from Florida International University. In her career, she has created a youth volunteer program at Jackson Plaza, started a recreational therapy internship at Signature Healthcare, coordinated a local Hall of Fame event honoring patients, stakeholders, and community leaders, partnered with the U.S. Census Bureau, supervised voting, and iN2L to better serve the elderly community, and created a recreational activity booklet for Melbourne Center for Personal Growth.

Her mission is to aid others in reaching life goals while establishing a good work-life balance by facilitating activities and tasks to exceed company expectations while improving the social, emotional, and spiritual aspirations of partners, team members, and clients. Mladen Cvijanovic

Mladen Cvijanovic is a Senior Corporate Executive with more than 14 years of management experience in a variety of industries. After 15 years working in hotel operations and sales, Rosemarie served as a Lecturer at the University of Technology, Jamaica, in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management for 10 years.

She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Rosen College of Hospitality Management, University of Central Florida. In addition to teaching, her research focuses on event, entertainment, and sports management, including mega events, and their social and economic impact, especially in developing countries. Calvin Elliott

Lakendra Nealy

Loyalty Care Specialist | Doral, Florida

My name is Lakendra Nealy, and I’m employed at the Marriott Global Sales office in Doral, Florida. I have been with the company for 17 years. As a Loyalty Care Specialist, I take the initiative to deliver a wide range of services that guide guests through their entire upcoming hotel trip or past hotel trip experience.

I assist colleagues with loyalty care reports and room reservations, processing all reservation requests, changes, and cancellations by phone. I communicate and update all guests' documentation and recovery resolutions. I’m very passionate about marketing. I follow sales techniques to maximize hotel revenue, including upselling and cross-selling. In the next four years, I look forward to transitioning to Director of Sales and Marketing.

Collin Rollins

Hotel Manager | Hyatt Regency

Collin Rollins started his career in finance and spent a decade in various roles, including Senior Officer at HSBC Bank. Collin transitioned into the hospitality industry, where he spent time as a hotel manager for the world-renowned Atlantis Paradise, Bahamas. In addition to his experience at Atlantis, Collin relocated to the United States, where he held management positions at several major hotel brands, including Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, and IHG on both the East and West coasts.

Collin’s illustrious career in finance and hospitality is coupled with his educational achievements, including a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and a Master of Science in Hospitality and Revenue Management, both from Florida International University.

Stephanie Rubin

Stephanie's career has spanned various industries, including consumer packaged goods, publishing, marketing agencies, and emerging technology. Before joining FIU, she served as the Chief Marketing and Content Officer at an award-winning, female-founded Spanish tech startup. In this role, Stephanie built a scalable marketing infrastructure that seamlessly integrated brand, product, data analytics, and content disciplines, resulting in four times year-over-year growth and a 44% increase in conversion rates.

Prior to her role at the startup, Stephanie was responsible for organically growing a subscription-based community to nearly 5 million creators. This DTw capability will improve safety during testing, condense the schedule, and advance global security priorities.

Previously, Garrett supported infrastructure and technology at Arnold Engineering Development Complex for Hypersonic investments. He has a comprehensive background in manufacturing, technology management, and regional operations coordination. His career is supported by a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University, an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Coast Guard Academy, a certificate in Mechatronics from Motlow College, and a PMP/Scrum Master Certification. Jana Johnson

Jana serves as the Human Resources Business Partner for the Energy, Science, and Technology Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She supports 500+ multinational staff researchers, technical professionals, and support staff. Jana is a retired Chief Master Sergeant (E9) with 27+ years of combined service in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.

She graduated with her MBA from Southern New Hampshire University in 2019. Throughout her career, Jana’s passion for developing future leaders and honing current leaders’ skills has remained her focus. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, dogs (Cobie and Gus), traveling, hiking, camping, and collecting National Park cancellation stamps. One of her traveling goals is to visit all of the U.S. National Parks.

Maria Julian

Maria T. Julian is a versatile professional with over two decades of experience spanning grants management, financial analysis, and strategic operations in academia, public service, and private sectors. Nuno Manuel Martins Guerreiro

Global LGBTQ+ Advisor | Google

Nuno (he/him) started his career in technology in Portugal. Fast forward two decades, he has held technology, operations, and sales leadership roles in startups to big tech companies, in three different continents and many cities, including founding and terminating his company too. He currently serves as Global LGBTQ+ Advisor at Google, empowering business inclusion and belonging at Google, to and through the LGBTQ+ community.

On the nonprofit side, Nuno also learns and leads by holding different volunteering positions. From supporting youth as a crisis counselor at The Trevor Project to being a board member at TurnOut, mobilizing Queer and Trans movements, and bridging economic development and exchange at the Portugal-U.S. Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of the Executive Committee and board.

Nuno has a Master’s in Computer Science completed at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a dual executive Global MBA from London Business School and Columbia University, with two honors.

More than two decades working wholly in nonprofit management in the vibrant environment of Detroit have invested me in advancing initiatives that improved youth development and community empowerment. I secured over $100M in funding for programs aimed at empowering youth with professional skills and opportunities in Wayne County.

These experiences have solidified my resolve to mix practical expertise with academic rigor, driving me toward a Doctorate in Business Administration at Florida International University. Nowhere else would I be more interested in delving into strategic management, leadership dynamics, and organizational behavior in this terminal degree that will hold me in good stead to transition from practitioner to scholar-practitioner.

Dereck Rodriguez Gonzalez

Aviation Enforcement Agent | Air and Marine Operations

My name is Dereck Rodríguez González. I joined the Navy at a young age and served on active duty for eight years as a helicopter search and rescue swimmer. During that time, I gained experience in various fields ranging from operating and analyzing sensors such as RADAR and SONAR to Search and Rescue, and even exposure to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

While on active duty, I pursued a Bachelor’s in Aeronautics and a Master’s in Unmanned Systems. As I progressed through the ranks, I undertook more responsibilities relating to the training of our junior members and operations planning. As I prepared to transition outside the military, I briefly served as an online adjunct professor at Southern New Hampshire University. I taught UAS courses and focused on their automation, applications ranging from agriculture to defense and home inspection, and applicable regulations.

Currently, I am a helicopter rescue specialist for the Department of Homeland Security and thoroughly enjoy my career. In my free time, I go snorkeling with turtles, octopuses, squids, and even whales and manatees on the Northwest coast of Puerto Rico. I look forward to learning from each of my peers during our time together and wish everyone the best of luck in their academic and professional endeavors.

Rohan Thompson

Program Director | FIU School of Education and Human Development; Community Engagement

Rohan Thompson, MBA, MSIOP, is Program Director for the Florida International University After-School All-Stars program. As Program Director, his team oversees the operations of a partnership between FIU and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

This partnership enables public school students in Title I schools to have greater access to opportunities in the areas of academic support, including core subject areas such as Language Arts and Math, and enrichment services, such as the creative arts and STEM education. His substantive role in this endeavor is to manage the operational aspects of the program, which includes financial management, talent acquisition, talent training and development, and the compiling and analysis of data for strategic planning and reporting purposes.

Richard Tiagi

Nesrine Yahia

Over the last 15 years, I have held varying Operations and IT Program Management roles in several industries, including technology, healthcare, retail, finance, and event management. In my current role as a Senior Program Manager at Google, I lead Chrome Enablement and Chrome OS efforts.

Some of my previous programs at Google were Engineering process improvements and architecture governance, AI/ML portfolio management, and first-party enterprise case management tool development and implementation.

I hold dual bachelor’s degrees in International Business and Languages, an MBA, and an MS in Operations and Project Management. I am now pursuing my DBA not only to further my education as a passionate lifelong learner but also to prepare for a career transition. Having worked and studied in four systems, four cultures, and in three languages, I believe I bring a different perspective not only to work but also to the program.

Over the course of his career, Ayodele has been the driver of numerous high‑impact projects and programs in ecommerce, logistics, energy, healthcare, and cloud computing from inception to delivery. Emmanuel Carrasquillo

Carlene serves as a Flight Attendant at JetBlue Airways, a role that involves working with a team of professionals in driving business performance and implementing strategic initiatives across operations and hospitality. Additionally, she works for Broward County in the Aviation Department at the Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale International Airport, with a focus on customer service.

Through these experiences, Carlene has honed her leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, all of which fuel her desire to pursue a DBA to further enhance her strategic capabilities. In addition to her professional experience, Carlene has been actively involved with the teaching profession as a Certified Substitute Teacher with Broward Schools.

Sharifa Wilkinson

Sharifa's passion for events, venues, and sports began as a high-performance athlete in Upstate New York, where she competed at one of the highest levels in women’s soccer. After concluding her athletic career, she transitioned from participating in sports events to organizing them.

She has since traveled the world, working in venue management, operations, and crowd management for world-class, high-profile events across Canada, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Qatar.

Sharifa is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor and Program Lead for the Mega Events Management graduate program and the undergraduate Events & Entertainment Management program at Florida International University's Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She draws on her academic background, international experience, and industry expertise to engage both aspiring and established event professionals.
