Real Estate Student Association (RESA)
The Real Estate Student Association at Florida International University links students with the real estate community. RESA is open to undergraduate and graduate students with a broad interest in real estate as it impacts society and as a career choice. A main goal of the organization is to provide networking opportunities with local real estate professionals in the various specialties that make up the real estate industry.
Monthly gatherings typically include a speaker so that students from various disciplines such as marketing, construction, architecture, management and finance can learn more about the many career paths in commercial and residential real estate.
RESA also hosts career workshops and property tours. RESA is student organized and managed with advisement from faculty and the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute.
Specific Programs on an Annual School Calendar Basis
Career workshop – this is a panel discussion of careers available in real estate and is integrated with the activities of the Real Estate Alumni and Affinity Council (REAAC). This is normally held in the Spring semester. Representatives and leaders from major professional organizations in real estate outline career options and network with students.
Commercial Real Estate Women Miami’s CREW U Program linking students with industry is held during the early part of the Spring Semester.
Leadership and CEO speakers – these are larger scale presentations made by industry leaders.
Monthly meetings/speakers – these events are driven by the student leaders and their areas of interest. In many cases these will be experienced, but less than senior or executive level, speakers, who may be able to get to the nuts and bolts of what is happening in the industry.
RESA social and networking events are numerous and orchestrated by RESA leaders. Recent events include the second annual tour of Wynwood, a tour of Mary Brickell Village and social events held at sporting venues in Miami.
