George Barbar is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Regional Development and Strategy for Mesirow. He oversees Rates, Government Agency, Supranationals, CDs and Structured Products and is responsible for its growth, underwriting and distribution. He is also the principal and manager of Mesirow’s Boca Raton office and leads Mesirow’s strategic Southeast expansion.

George is founder and president of the South Florida Bond Traders Association, vice chair of Bond Dealers of America and board member for Habitat for Humanity of Broward where he chairs the Development Committee, and he has recently been elected to The Orange Bowl Committee. He serves as the chair of the Treasury Investment Council for the State of Florida, school board chairman at Westminster Academy, advisory board chairman of the Institute for Faith & Culture, and elder at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. He is also a frequent guest lecturer for Florida Atlantic University’s Financial Analyst Program and Florida International University’s finance department.

George earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College and a Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 52, 63, 79 and 99 licenses and has a Florida Real Estate Broker’s license.
