Advising

You can rely upon your academic advisor for information, assistance, and encouragement throughout your time in the College of Business. Your advisor can be contacted by:

Appointment

Reserve time to speak with an advisor, engage in academic planning and ask questions. These appointments should be scheduled through your student portal.

Walk-in Advising

Current students can refer to their advisor's calendar through the student portal. For your convenience, appointments will be opened two weeks in advance. Advisors will continue to open new appointments on Friday mornings.

Prospective students (currently not enrolled in a College of Business major) may visit our office during the following hours:

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm

Please contact the Biscayne Bay and FIU at I-75 campuses in order to meet with your advisor at that location. Prospective students can be seen at the FIU at I-75 campus on Fridays 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm.

Gain the knowledge and skills you'll need to enter the fields of public, private sector, corporate and governmental accounting, or to pursue advanced degrees in accounting, business or law. For public accounting, you'll also need to pass the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, which in Florida requires 30 credit hours beyond the Bachelor of Accounting degree.

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree prepares graduates to think critically, solve problems and lead with confidence. To provide greater international experience to our undergraduate students, the FIU College of Business is partnering with 30 respected institutions around the world to offer undergraduates a dual degree program. Students completing their studies at FIU will receive a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) from FIU, while also earning the dual degree from their home institution. 

Created with the working student in mind, the Professional BBA program offers an alternative solution to obtaining a traditional degree. Complete your Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in management and international business by attending weekend classes. Enjoy the convenience of an accelerated program schedule intended to be completed in 18 months.

ALEKS Math Placement Assessment

To increase student success in math courses, the FIU College of Business has implemented a mandatory in-person math placement assessment for all entering students. The assessment, known as ALEKS, is a web-based artificially intelligent system that uses adaptive questioning to determine exactly what a student knows. This information is used to place the student in a course for which you have sufficient background.

The Student Learning Center is an academic resource available to business students fully admitted to the college. Offerings include practical workshops, self-directed learning style assessments and study templates, small group sessions, and individual consultation for business students who are experiencing academic difficulties.
