Beta Alpha Psi scores the “Gold” again.

| By

The FIU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was awarded Gold Chapter Status at the society’s annual conference, the first one in person in two years. The recognition put the FIU chapter in 2022’s elite group of five, three of them in the U.S., out of a total of approximately 350 worldwide.

Judges of the KPMG Gold Challenge Competition granted the distinction after the chapter repeated its Superior status, becoming eligible to produce a video about its accomplishments to win Gold. The five-minute recruitment video highlighted the FIU chapter’s accomplishments.

“We’re very proud. It’s rewarding for me to see what the students accomplish,” said Jimmy Carmenate, Beta Alpha Psi faculty advisor since 2009 and clinical assistant professor of accounting. “We push and the students do the rest.”

Another point of pride: the app.

The FIU Beta Alpha Psi chapter is the only chapter that has created a mobile app to track membership and participation points, as well as allow members to pay their dues and shop at the chapter’s online store. The app is now available on both Google and Apple.

“It’s more than just a tracker; it’s our website on steroids,” said Carmenate. “It’s very unique. The students have gone beyond what they expected.”

Founded in 1919, Beta Alpha Psi caters to accounting, finance and information systems students. There are over 300,000 members initiated since Beta Alpha Psi’s formation.

The FIU chapter hosts professional development workshops, community service and member support.
