Master of Science in MarketingFrequently Asked Questions

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university. Students in the MSM program have degrees in various fields and do not need a marketing or business degree to apply.

FIU requires that official transcripts are sent in directly by each college or university you attended. For transcripts to be deemed official, they must be sent directly from the school you attended with the school’s seal in a closed envelope.

For degrees earned from FIU, there is no need to have transcripts sent. If you attended a university outside the U.S. and the transcripts are not in English, they must be translated by a certified translator. The translation and an official copy of the transcripts must be submitted.

Applicants whose native language is not English and who did not obtain a degree in an English speaking institution need to take the TOEFL exam. They will need to score at least 550 on the paper-based, 213 on the computer-based, 80 on the internet-based test, or an equivalent score on a comparable examination. Please visit http://www.ets.org/toefl for more information. List of TOEFL exempt countries can be found on the following website: http://gradschool.fiu.edu/TOEFLExemptCountries.html

  • GMAT scores - 5 years
  • GRE scores - 5 years
  • TOEFL scores - 2 years
  • Institutional TOEFL scores (FIU) - 1 year

Courses taken in other university programs will not count toward the MSM program at FIU. Since the MSM is an accelerated, lock-step program, courses from other programs also are not transferable.

Students must complete ten 3-credit classes, a total of 30 credits, in order to graduate.

Because the MSM is a lock-step program, students cannot prolong the program for more than 10 months. Students must remain with their cohort throughout the entire sequence until the program is concluded to assist with networking and in building long-lasting business relationships.
