Admission Requirements

Our Master of Science in Information Systems candidates are highly motivated professionals intent on reaching that next level of leadership success. Admissions decisions can be quite competitive. Admission to the Master of Science in Information Systems program is based on a variety of factors and will be evaluated holistically. Our admissions team carefully screens each application to ensure candidates are an optimal fit for the program demands and objectives. 

You must meet either of the two criteria listed below:

You must have earned your bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0-grade point average in the last 60 credits of your undergraduate study and have at least four years of relevant professional experience in Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Analytics or Project Management.

OR

You must have earned your bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0-grade point average in the last 60 credits of your undergraduate study, and achieve a minimum score of 500 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or a score of 247 on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Application Process

  • Complete the Graduate Admission Application. Select “Create User Account” (Unless you have created one previously). Complete all required fields.
  • There is a non-refundable application fee of US $30.00.

  1. Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and/or universities. If the official transcripts are not in English, a second copy of the transcript must be evaluated by an official translation agency that is accredited by NACES and sent to our mailing address above.

  2. Official proof of degree. A notarized copy of the original diploma is required if the degree is not posted on the official transcript(s).

  3. Your resume. Include any IT experience, especially if you do not have a Bachelor in Information Systems/Technology.

  4. Statement of purpose. Please note there is no minimum or maximum word or page count. The document should outline your objectives in pursuing this graduate degree.

  5. Recommendation letters (Optional)

  6. Applicants whose studies where completed in a country whose official language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either the TOEFL or IELTS – a University list of exemptions is available here. These tests are available worldwide. There is a fee for the examination.
    Minimum scores for the TOEFL are: 80 internet-based, 550 paper-based, and 213 computer-based. Minimum score for the IELTS is 6.5. To obtain information about the TOEFL exam, please contact the English Language Institute 305-348-2222, or visit www.toefl.org. When requesting the official scores, please refer to the Florida International University Institution code 5206. To obtain more information about the IELTS, visit www.ielts.org.

  7. Proof of US residency/citizenship

Florida Residents: Two proofs of residency. Documents must be dated one year prior to the term you are seeking admissions. For a list of acceptable documents please click here.

International Applicants

If you are an international applicant, you must also submit the additional documents listed below:

  1. Submit a completed and signed Declaration of Finances (DCF) form. Please note that the minimum amount in the DCF must be at least $61,080 for 2016-2017 academic year.

  2. Bank letter has to reflect $61,080.

  3. Sponsor letter (if applicable).

You must submit a complete application packet to be considered.
