Professional Activities

Dr. Parente is the Associate Editor of the Management Research Journal and Vice President of the Ibero-American Academy of Management.  He currently serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), Thunderbird International Business Review (TIBR), Global Strategy Journal (GSJ), Cross-Cultural Management Journal (CMJ), and the Journal of International Management (JIM).  

He is an elected board member at the European Academy of International Business (EIBA) and has been elected for a leadership role with the Global Strategy Interest Group at the Strategic Management Society (2014-2016).  

In terms of organizing conferences, Dr. Parente organized and co-chairs the SMS Special Conference in Rio in 2011 and the 48th CLADEA Conference in Rio in 2013. He was track chair for the Academy of International Business 2015 in Bangalore and is current the Program Chair for the 2015 Strategic Management Society in Denver.

He has been a guest editor of the Global Strategy Journal 2013 Special Issue titled “Strategic Modularity & the Architecture of the Multinational Firm” and also a guest editor of the Journal of International Management 2015 Special Issue titled “From Resources and Value Chains to Consumer Benefits and Innovation Ecosystems: Demand-Side Perspectives in International Business.”

He is the recipient of the prestigious Sereia de Ouro 2006 International Award in Brazil and was a finalist for the Farmer Best Dissertation Award from the Academy of International Business (2004). 

On the professional side, Dr. Parente has over 20 years of work experience and has worked, managed, and consulted for several private and public institutions in Brazil, the United States, and Bulgaria. He was a member of Global-E Team, which was one of the 10 finalists in the 2010 Progressive X-Prize Competition
