Yvonne Alfonso Santana, MS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP2020 Bio

Yvonne Alfonso Santana. MS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP is currently the Vice President of Human Resources for the Kingsway America group of companies. She oversees a national HR team which supports Kingsway’s subsidiaries. Kingsway America is a holding company that owns or controls subsidiaries primarily in the extended warranty, asset management and real estate industries. Mrs. Santana has a Bachelors in Business Administration majoring in Human Resources with a minor in Industrial Organizational Psychology. She also holds a Masters of Science in Management, majoring in Human Resources. Both of her degrees were earned at Florida International University (FIU). In 2003, she earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. In 2015 she earned her SHRM Senior Certified Professional designation. Both certifications are current.Mrs. Santana has over 25 years of professional, managerial, generalist, executive level HR experience and has held various HR positions. Additionally, she also provides HR consulting services to local businesses. She has been a member of the FIU MSHRM Advisory Board since its inception. The Board reviews and directs the goals of the Masters in Human Resources Management program. She is also a Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Miami graduate. She is a member of the Greater Miami Society for Human Resources Management and also a member of the Society for Human Resources Management national chapter. Mrs. Santana is also involved with numerous charities. Ms. Santana has been an adjunct professor at FIU's College of Business Administration since 2004, teaching the Critical Thinking course at the graduate level both in Miami and in Jamaica. As an active working professional, she brings real life HR expertise to the course that supplements the academic content. She is considered a subject matter expert in becoming PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certified.
