Professional Activities

Mr. Pappacena has over 35 years of global business experience and worked in 50+ countries throughout his career.  As a senior partner in PwC and Arthur Andersen, he held various senior executive leadership roles at global, regional, and country levels, in addition to his client service responsibilities.  

He has advised global and multinational companies in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, consulting with C-level executives in corporate and business strategy, business model design and innovation, business and digital transformation, organizational strategy, change management, and mergers & acquisitions.  His clients included companies such as Federal Express, WPP Group, Hewlett Packard, McDonald’s, Royal Dutch Shell, Honeywell Aerospace, Target, Chrysler, AT&T, Publicis Groupe, General Electric, Waste Management, Singapore Airlines, Tata Consultancy Services, Telefonica (Spain), Petrobras, FEMSA (Mexico), and Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).

He is currently the CEO of Cani Investments LLC, responsible for translating global macro trends into portfolio strategies encompassing equity and fixed income investments, private equity and hedge funds, real assets, and technology startup ventures.  He also acts as a senior investment advisor to private equity firms and a strategic advisor to private companies and startups.

As a member of PwC’s global leadership team, Mr. Pappacena held a number of executive leadership roles, including Global Chief Strategy Officer and Global Business Model Innovation Leader.  In these roles, he was responsible for leading PwC’s global strategy, strategic acquisitions and investments, global brand positioning, and business model transformation across 150+ countries around the world. 

Prior to PwC, Mr. Pappacena was a partner at Arthur Andersen, where his leadership roles included Global Managing Partner of the Strategy, Organization & Change business; Regional Managing Partner of the Latin America Business Consulting practice; US Managing Partner of the Professional & Business Services industry; and member of the firm’s Leadership Development Executive Committee.

His intellectual interests have led him to “think critically about critical thinking” and promote independent views that challenge conventional wisdom, groupthink, and established dogmas.  His research focuses on how leaders need to adapt their strategic thinking to navigate a complex environment shaped by the interaction of macro trends and transitions in global economics, geopolitics, and digital technologies.
