Professional Activities

The sun of Gustavo Mosquera and Yvonne Sanchez was born and raised in Venezuela. As the years went by, he studied in multiple universities across the country and graduated from all of them. As you can imagine, the political environment in Venezuela transformed Gustavo’s life at a fundamental level. In an attempt to find purpose and a brighter opportunity to his future, he emigrated to the United States. Disheartened to leave his country behind, Gustavo landed after a 3 hours’ flight in the land of the free and opportunities.


Gustavo believes that curiosity drives learning, and the knowledge acquired through education, opened many opportunities during his early years in the United States of America. Deeply imbued with his search of knowledge, he became the first of his family to graduate from a foreign university completing both a Master of Science in Marketing and a Master of International Business. He said in an interview to CNN that marketing is the field in which creativity and data collides. He finds fascinating how analytics collected from, for example, marketing research or social media helps turn data into valuable information to create, promote, and deliver value to the customers. That said, if Intuition and experience are no longer enough in a world led by data and information, Gustavo’s curiosity led him to study all about marketing analytics, digital marketing and social media marketing.


As a Professor, he wants his students to recognize his passion for creating original content, presenting in-class and online materials, and providing industry-relevant feedback. But, most importantly, he wants to plant a seed of curiosity that motivate students to learn and reinforce fact-based decision making in the marketing field. During his years of experience at Florida International University, he has been committed to provide a high-quality academic experience by orientating culturally diverse students through their courses to maximize their learning process, moderating classroom discussions, and contributing to a positive and empowering learning environment.
