Professional Activities

Mr. Kleban has many years of managerial and entrepreneurial experience.  His experiences include working in the Value Engineering Department in the U.S. Space Program, project management positions that included design, construction and debugging of large industrial complexes. Mr. Kleban’s entrepreneurial desires led to his starting and running a successful computer businesses for 25 years. With this vast experience and an advanced business degree, Mr. Kleban began his career as a college educator which he continues to enjoy to this day.  

Workplace accomplishments include project design responsibilities of a new large industrial facility in Ohio, bringing a new large state-of-the-art manufacturing facility online in Missouri, major cost containment implementations resulting in lowering of operating costs by over 60% at a major manufacturing facility in Michigan, design and implementation of cost saving inventory control systems, and extensive labor-management and negotiation experience involving major U.S. labor unions. 

Professor Kleban has devoted more than thirty years to the teaching profession and involvement in community service.  He has served as Director of a Miami-Dade County nonprofit organization focused on local community economic development projects and non-profit organizations.  He has several years of community service experience working with chemically dependent individuals and minority populations.

Professor Kleban continues to share his knowledge and experiences by presenting management-training workshops to organizations such as Airbus, Miami-Dade Port Authority, and Health Choice Network, and Cigna Insurance and has served on Turnberry Towers (300 unit condominium in Aventura, FL) and The NE 2nd Avenue Partnership board of directors.  His research has appeared in The Business Review, Cambridge and he has authored several International Business case studies published by Prentice Hall and Author House.

Professor Kleban is an early pioneer in the development and teaching of online courses.  He has presented workshops covering topics such as designing online courses to promote academic integrity and the use of macro tools to ease the grading process for faculty.  His online courses are Quality Matters (QM) certified, a concept that promotes continuous quality improvement of course materials and presentation.

Professor Kleban served a MBA Director at the University of Toledo, is a former business columnist of the Toledo Free Press, and, as a businessperson, was selected the Entrepreneur of the Year by Toledo Ohio SCORE.
