Joanne Li, Dean, FIU Business

Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA is Dean, Professor of Finance and Ryder Eminent Scholar Chair at the Florida International University College of Business, an AACSB-accredited college. As dean, she leads the college’s Landon Undergraduate School and Chapman Graduate School, as well as its executive education, global learning and small business development programs (the Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center, and Florida SBDC at FIU, the small business development center at Florida International University’s College of Business).

Prior to joining the college, she served as Dean of Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. At Raj Soin, she developed innovative programs designed to accelerate the college’s role in economic and workforce development, including the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to promote student participation in commercialization and tech transfer, and Wright Venture, a Shark Tank look-alike that allows students to pitch start-up ideas to gain financial backing.

While serving as Dean at Raj Soin, she was recognized by the Dayton Business Journal as one of Dayton’s Power 50 Women and was named one of 100 Dayton’s Women Influencers by the Lean In Chapter, Dayton. She was also selected by the Deloitte Dayton Women’s Initiative as one of the eight Dayton-area women leaders of the fourth annual Wise Women conference.

Dr. Li is a retainer/selected speaker for the CFA Institute and CFA Institute Asia-Pacific. She has presented on the value of corporate governance at many international and national CFA societies including the Thailand Stock Exchange (TSE). She established the CFA mentoring program in numerous institutions and coordinated a Global Investment Research Challenge for the D.C. and Baltimore Societies. She has published in top ranked finance journals, including the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, and The Financial Review. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Article recognition in the Journal of Financial Research in 2005. She served as Associated Editor for Financial Analysts Journal in 2011 and 2012 and also served on the Editorial Board of the journal. In 2008, she took on the role of Editor in Chief of the Stalla Review for the CFA Exams. She currently holds the position of President-elect of the Council of Chinese American Dean’s and Presidents.

Dr. Li graduated with a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a support area in Econometrics from Florida State University. She was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2001.

Deanne Butchey, PhD, University Lecturer in Finance and Director of Assurance of Learning at FIU Business

Dr. Butchey has a PhD in Finance from FIU, an MBA in Finance from York University’s Schulich School of Business, and an Undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. A former stock broker at Merrill Lynch in Toronto and Commercial Bank Research Analyst at Credit Suisse’s Toronto offices, she currently teaches Corporate Finance in the MBA program and Commercial Banking in FIU Business’ Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program, ranked #6 overall and #1 for “Value for the Money” by the Financial Times among programs for experienced professionals.

Ricardo Zuasti, Chief Product Officer, Technisys

Committed to innovation and digital banking projects since 1999, Ricardo Zuasti oversees all research and development of Cyberbank Core and Cyberbank Omnichannel solutions. His vision is improving people’s life through technology. Additionally, Ricardo has been an experienced tech entrepreneur, as the founding partner of omnichannel software company Manentia. Before that, he has also worked in Uruguayan banks, helping them to advance digitally.

Phil Haumiller, Banking Consultant

Phil brings 50 years of banking and banking related experience. In those fifty years, he has been a banker, worked for a core banking software provider designing banking software, been a banking and bank technology consultant. During his career, he has worked with banks throughout the United States, and overseas. He retired in December, 2014 as CTO/EVP for a billion dollar bank in Northeast Tennessee. Today, Phil continues to consult in the financial industry with a focus on the technological strategic direction needed by the banking industry. Phil received a Bachelors of Business Administration from Upper Iowa College.

Lalo Steinman, Cloud Digital transformation Latin America, Microsoft

Lalo Steinmann has been in Microsoft for more than 14 years. He is responsible for public cloud strategy for large organizations in Latin America. He has held different roles is Public Sector, covering positions for Latin America and headquarter teams. He is a as a Microsoft speaker in World Wide events about new technology and business trends.

He had a large carrier as a director and architect for his own software company working with large software projects. In this position he managed the implementation of tickets application for Boca and River, the two well know soccer teams in Argentina.

Krishnan Dandapani, Professor, Department of Finance, Florida International University

Dr. Dandapani is a Professor of Finance and Director of the Professional MBA programs at Florida International University. He has 35 years of experience in performing research and financial analysis for corporations, governments, and institutions throughout the world. His research has been published in many premier journals including the Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, Communications of the ACM, Management International Review, The International Trade Journal among others. He is the co-author of two books: Banking in North America: NAFTA and Beyond (Elseiver Science, 1999) and Return Generating Models in Finance (Elseiver, 1998).

Dr. Dandapani has received numerous grants from the State of Florida and other Agencies. Additionally, he has received grants from the Knight-Ridder Center to develop E-Finance projects. His area of research in E-Finance and is completing a book in that area. Over the past 35 years Dr. Dandapani has given numerous presentations in his areas of expertise "E-Finance and Its Impact on Financial Institutions". He was awarded numerous teaching, research and service awards and in 2007 he was given the “Council of 100 Professor award” a rare and unique honor.
