The Department of Finance will educate and train students and/or prospective managers in the theories and practices associated with the ownership and management of financial assets, the financial management of non-financial, and financial firms, and the creation of investment strategies that include all asset classes. Instruction will be at the undergraduate and graduate levels and will include doctoral education.
The department will produce research that contributes to the body of knowledge in finance. Concurrently, the finance department will support the programmatic needs of the college and the university and the educational needs of the community.
Capital Markets Lab
As a research facility dedicated to academic excellence, we aim to prepare students for today’s competitive job market.
Internships
The Department may offer credit for paid or unpaid part-time supervised work in a selected bank or other organization in the area of finance, upon prior approval by the chairman.
The goal of the internship program is to gain work experience in your field of interest and to help you confirm or re-shape your career goals. You will also develop specific work related skills that can enhance your marketability upon graduation. It will help you build your “network” of professional contacts for your future job search upon graduation. Finally, it will allow you to demonstrate your talents to a potential future employer.
These internship opportunities are available via our College of Business Career Management Services department at the beginning of each fall, spring and summer semester.
