Tibor and Sheila Hollo School of Real Estate Real Estate Alumni Affinity Council (REAAC)

The Real Estate Alumni Affinity Council at Florida International University links active real estate professionals with one another and with the real estate programs at Florida International University. REAAC is open to alumni and supporters of Florida International University and works with the Alumni Association Liaison and the Director of Real Estate Programs in the College of Business at FIU to serve as a continuing network of FIU anchored real estate professionals. A main goal of REAAC is the provision of networking opportunities between local and national real estate professionals in the various specialties that make up the real estate industry. Gatherings typically include a speaker of prominence discussing real time market issues. Members encompass professionals from all areas related to real estate including brokerage, investments, law, architecture, engineering, finance, appraisal and other related areas. REAAC also serves as a resource for the Real Estate Student Association (RESA) and helps facilitate the transition of students to professionals. REAAC is organized and managed by its members with program support from FIU’s College of Business and the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute.

Programs include the follow:

Networking meetings with leaders in the profession are held during the calendar year. These events are driven by REAAC leaders and their areas of interest. Leaders from industry provide insight as speakers and panelists. Networking opportunities are provided. REAAC also partners with other professional groups to sponsor events and create opportunities for knowledge dissemination and networking. REACC is a sponsor of the 2010 Professional Organizations Program scheduled for April 8, 2010 which will bring leaders from CRA, CCIM, NAIOP, ULI, AI and ICSC on campus.

REACC also works for the success of the Annual FIU Real Estate Conference. The organization is also developing an annual event to be held early in the calendar that initially is focused on the concept of “Views from the Beaches” which will highlight what is going on in South Florida specifically related to beach projects and communities. This includes vacation/second home/condo markets and other markets that are related.
