General Rules & Submission Guidelines

Eligible Participants

  • Open to all FIU students

How to Enter

Submit your best high resolution photograph (photo will be blown up to 8x10 size). One image per category per person in electronic format. Send photos to along with the International Photo Contest Submission Form.

Image Rules

  • Photos must be saved as a .jpeg
  • Photos must be original images taken by contestant
  • Photos must be taken outside of the United States
  • Photos can be in color and/or black & white


  • Entries will be disqualified if the judges determine entries are not original, or if the entries are inappropriate, damaged, altered, or obtained through fraud or theft. No Photoshop or editing. Slight filters may be added.
  • Contestants agree to be bound by the official rules
  • Contestants understand that the decisions of the judges are final on all matters relating to the Contest
  • Contestants understand that if he/she wins, the sponsors may use the winning photograph and each winner’s name and photograph in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest or future promotions without compensation or approval.

Copyright Policy/Releases

By entering the contest, all entrants grant a royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to Florida International University, the Office of Global Initiatives to reproduce, distribute, display and advertise submitted photographs in any print and electronic publications. The artist will be fully credited in all such displays and publications.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged on –

  1. Originality and creativity – 50%
  2. Photographic quality – 40%
  3. Depiction of category – 10%

Categories for entries are:

  1. Dare to Explore (photos of places, landmarks, monuments, landscape, outdoor scenery, nature etc.)
  2. Amazing People (photos/portraits of people depicting culture or traditional customs)
  3. Interesting Wildlife (photos of animals, flowers, trees, birds, fish, etc.)

There will be one winner per category and one prize will be awarded to the winner of each category. We will also award the most popular photo on Facebook or Instagram as the Student’s Choice Award.

Deadline: All photographs must be submitted no later than March 29th, 2019
