Professional Activities

Dr. Simpson has over two decades of experience in the management, design and development of information systems and the application of quantitative methods in business and economics.  She has consulted for private and public organizations in the strategic use of information systems and data analytics for improved organizational performance.

A strong believer in experiential education and engaged learning, Dr. Simpson is committed to designing learner centered educational experiences that place great emphasis in practical hands-on applications. She draws from her computer science skills to take full advantage of modern technologies in her teaching work to enhance students’ learning.

She holds graduate degrees in Business Administration, Economics and Information Systems and has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards and merit-based scholarships along her career.  She is a Fulbright alumni and member of the Inter-American network of OAS scholars.

Her research interests span the areas of e-Learning, economic and organizational impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and applications of quantitative methods in decision making. She is currently an e-board member of the Latin American Chapter for the Association Information Systems and faculty advisor for the student chapter of AIS at FIU.
