Online Human Resource Management Certificate ProgramFrequently Asked Questions

FIU Executive Education offers non-credit certificate programs that allow business professionals to enhance their professional development. Upon successful completion of this program, you will receive a digital certificate from FIU Executive Education at the College of Business. The Human Resource Management Online Certificate program contains assessments, including required readings and quizzes that must be successfully completed in order to earn the certificate.

There are no requirements or prerequisites that must be met before taking this program. This includes test scores, transcripts and GPA requirements.

You may register for all FIU Executive Education programs directly from our website,

FIU Executive Education does not charge application fees other than the program fee. However, during the time of registration, a non-refundable down payment is required to hold your spot within this program. Specific information on the down payment for a particular program can be located under the “Policies” section of the program website.

FIU Executive Education participants are not officials FIU students in the sense that they are not issued a “Panther ID” number or Student ID. FIU Executive Education programs do not award college credits and may not be taken as part of an FIU academic program. A program taken through our office will not appear on MyFIU and will not appear on your transcript. In addition, you will not need to apply through the university as a whole.

International students are more than welcome to enhance their professional development by engaging in FIU Executive Education programs.

The program coordinator (PC) is your primary point of contact for any program-related issues/concerns. Communication can be through phone or email. The PC will help participants with areas such as registration, payments, invoices and verification letters. The PC will also assist with other issues that may arise by either serving as a liaison or directing the participant to the appropriate contact. Also, the PC will provide administrative support for the program. Should you have any questions before, during or after the program, please do not hesitate to contact the program coordinator directly.

Successful completion of the program is contingent upon completing all program assignments, including readings and quizzes. The program operates on a pass-fail basis and no grades are assigned. Successful completion of the program is contingent upon a 70% average on all program quizzes. The quizzes are based on the readings and exercises covered in each section of the program and are utilized to gauge a participant’s understanding of the material.

Should you fail to meet the performance requirement for the program, then you may discuss your situation with the program coordinator. If there are special circumstances, a participant may be allowed to retake a program at a discounted price.

Human Resource Management

SHRM Certification Review

  • Introductory program to human resources and provides a general overview of all HR components
  • Typically for those looking to begin a career in HR with an entry level position, is currently performing HR functions, and/or is seeking formal education in the area of HR
  • Prepares participants for the SHRM Certification Exam
  • More in-depth concepts and directly follows the SHRM Learning System
  • Typically for individuals that have between 3 and 6 years of experience in an HR role

Both programs include online components in which work is performed independently on an online learning management system. However, the regular program also includes required weekly live sessions led by an instructor. The self-paced program does not include the weekly instructor-led sessions. Please note office hours are available with an instructor should you have questions about the material. These sessions will be held by appointment, via Zoom.

It is not a requirement or mandatory pre-requisite that the Human Resource Management Program be taken before the SHRM Certification Review. It is up to the participants to determine which program best fits their needs and skill set.
