Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics

The Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics (MSHIA) Advisory Board is a diverse group of senior health and HIT executives who are key partners to the success of the MSHIA program! By serving as the University link to the healthcare informatics and HIT community, the Advisory Board provides vital information about the changing needs, trends and challenges of this dynamic and evolving industry. Their unique and keen insight helps to inform existing and new initiatives and guide the general strategic direction of the MSHIA program.

Collectively, the MSHIA Advisory Board members combine their unique perspectives, and experiences to help guide FIU Chapman Graduate Business School leadership team and the Chair of the Information Systems and Business Analytics (ISBA) Department, regarding the mission, goals and objectives of the MSHIA program; the promotion the MSHIA program on a national and international scale, to strengthen its academic reputation and advance research capability. The MSHIA Advisory Board also serves to enhance the financial resources of the ISBA department while strengthening its ties to the corporate, governmental and nonprofit communities.

The MSHIA Advisory Board actively:

  • Advise of best practices and emerging trends in the healthcare informatics and HIT market, and in the demand for professional skills.
  • Provide insight to guide the quality of the MSHIA program curriculum and methodology, and to aid the development of new programs that align with market conditions and adequately address business needs.
  • Act as ambassadors for the MSHIA program by communicating its vision and objectives, to extend the reach and educational reputation of the MSHIA program, locally, regionally and internationally.
  • Assist with securing long-term funding for the MSHIA program through outreach to business contacts and community partners.
  • Engage with students, serving as advocates and mentors for current students and alumni of the MSHIA program.
  • Assist in the creation and expansion of student placement opportunities by pursuing industry partnerships and development programs.
  • Recommend new avenues and opportunities for student recruitment.
