- Novelty/creativity/innovativeness – demonstrated an original, potentially unexpected, approach to the data analysis and/or solution development.
- Impact/utility – provided evidence that high potential exists for the data analysis and/or solution development to have significant benefit for science, society, and/or policy.
- Relevance – performed data analysis and/or solution development in alignment with the themes and goals of the Datathon.
- Scope – incorporated an adequate amount and variety of data, software tools, and techniques which were utilized appropriately within the data analysis and/or solution development.
- Soundness/accuracy – utilized data analysis and/or solution development techniques correctly in order to arrive at logically consistent and accurate conclusions.
Quality of the presentation of the analysis and/or solution
- Clarity – provided a well-organized, complete and clear description of the approach taken, data and software tools utilized, techniques incorporated, and conclusions reached.
- Consistency – made conclusions that are logically and reasonably consistent with the data analysis and/or solution development.
- Documentation – provided links to all sources of data and other documents; cited supporting research.
- Vision – presented a clear and compelling vision of next steps to bring these ideas to parents, lawmakers, community leaders, scientists, etc.
- Quality and engagement – submitted a 6-minute video pitch that is technically high quality and exhibits enthusiasm by the team.
