1. Discover FIU Business Graduate Programs

As an international student, your first step in furthering your education is learning more about the programs we offer within FIU’s College of Business. Click here to discover all our graduate program offerings, both in person and fully online.

Information sessions and open house events are scheduled throughout the year for all our programs. You are invited to attend! You can also meet with our enrollment advisors to learn more about your programs of interest.

Once you have found the program that best fits your academic and professional goals, you are ready to apply!

Still unsure of what program is best for you? Schedule an appointment with a member of our international student recruitment team.

2. Prepare and Apply

Once you have decided on a program, it is time to gather your documents and submit your application.

Our application for admission is fully online. There is a $30 USD application fee, which can be paid via credit card at the time of application. If you have been provided an application fee waiver, please follow the instructions provided.

All application materials can be uploaded with your application or sent to our team at cobglobal@fiu.edu. You can find detailed information on the admission requirements by selecting Admission Requirements on the menu to the right. These include:

  • University transcript and diplomas in the original language of issuance
  • English translation of all transcripts and diplomas
  • English proficiency scores
  • Essay
  • Resume
  • Video (if required)
  • Letters of recommendation (if required)
  • GRE/GMAT score (if required)

3. Submit Visa Documents

If you are not on a valid visa for study in the U.S., you will need an initial I-20. You are not eligible to study on a B1/B2 visa. If you hold another visa type, please contact cobglobal@fiu.edu for more information.

FIU creates the I-20 document you will need to take to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in your home country. FIU is required by the Department of Homeland Security/US Citizenship and Immigration Services to carefully review the financial ability of each student prior to issuing this document. Therefore, it is important that you are aware of the cost of attending FIU and that you have sufficient funds to support yourself.

You can find detailed information on the supporting documents by selecting Visa Documents from the menu. It is recommended that you do not submit the financial documents after your file has been forwarded to the admission committee.

Your I-20 will be sent via email only. If you have not received this within three weeks of submitting all financial documents, please follow up with cobglobal@fiu.edu.

Once you have received your I-20, you will need to schedule a visa appointment and pay the necessary SEVIS fees. Do not enter the United States for your program unless you have secured an F-1 visa.

Amount to be shown on Declaration of Finance & Bank letters.

4. Confirm Your Admission

Once you have been admitted, you will need to confirm your intention to enroll. You will receive an email from your program with next steps to submit your admission acceptance form and any necessary deposit. While we recommend that you pay your deposit within seven days of receiving the invoice, please work with your program if you would like to pay the deposit after you have secured your visa. Note that your deposit holds your seat in the program and space fills up quickly.

All FIU students are required to provide proof of immunization against MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, and Meningitis. However, it is possible to waive the immunization requirement for Hepatitis B and Meningitis. The appropriate forms for proof of vaccination and vaccination waivers can be found on the Division of Academic & Students Affairs Immunization website. Students who do not provide this information will not be able to be registered for classes. Please email your immunization documents to immune@fiu.edu.

FIU requires all international students to submit proof of medical insurance. This is not covered as part of your tuition. If you have insurance in your home country that meets the requirements set by the university, you may submit that documentation. Otherwise, students are able to purchase insurance from the university directly. Please visit the Insurance for International Students website for more information on available insurance plans and requirements. You can email your insurance proof to insure@fiu.edu.

Our graduate business students are enrolled in courses by their program. You will receive an update about 1 month before the first day of classes with your class schedule. To pay your tuition, you will log into your myFIU account and pay via check, wire transfer, or credit card. You can also pay in person on campus.

5. Plan Your Arrival

Once you have secured your F-1 visa and confirmed your admission, you should begin planning your travel and housing arrangements.

As an international student, you can arrive in the US no more than 30 days before the first day of classes. It is recommended that you arrive at least one week before your first day of classes to account for any flight delays, orientation, and adjusting to the time difference. Please refer to your program schedule for any orientation or bootcamps that may be held before the first day of classes and ensure your travel is planned accordingly.

Students are recommended to attend pre-arrival orientation held by the Office of International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS). Upon arrival, it is imperative that you complete the ISSS arrival check in within 10 days of your arrival in Miami.

You can find more information on planning your arrival by selecting Arriving in Miami from the menu.
