Graduate CertificatesCertificate in Cybersecurity Management

As organizations of all types face ever-increasing cybersecurity risks, their ability to efficiently and effectively manage such risks constitutes a key core competency. This 6-month Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity Management program focuses on developing the skills required to pursue careers in cybersecurity, by providing individuals with a deep understanding of management, procedure, policy, standards and technology of secure information systems for businesses and governments.

Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or higher from an accredited institution.

Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree from an institution where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either:

  • TOEFL (minimum scores are: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based)
  • IELTS (minimum score is 6.5)
  • Pearson Test of English – Academic (minimum score is 53)
  • Cambridge English – Advanced
  • Duolingo (test score of 105 or above may substitute for TOEFL or IELTS)

Applicants can take the Duolingo English Test online at any time without traveling to a test center. 

TOEFL and IELTS test scores are considered official when sent by the testing center directly to our school. When requesting the official scores, please refer to the Florida International University Institution code 5206.

Students must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Microsoft Access is also highly recommended.

STEP 1: Apply for the Program

  • Complete the Graduate Certificate Application. Select “Create User Account” (unless you have created one previously). Complete all required fields.
  • There is a non-refundable application fee of US $30.00.

STEP 2: Submit all materials

  • Submit your completed application and all supporting documentation to:

    1. Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and/or universities. If the official transcripts are not in English, a second copy of the transcript must be evaluated by an official translation agency that is accredited by NACES and sent to our mailing address above.

    2. Official proof of degree. A notarized copy of the original diploma is required if the degree is not posted on the official transcript(s).

    3. Resume. Include any IT experience, especially if you do not have a Bachelor in Information Systems/Technology.

    5. Proof of US residency/citizenship

STEP 3: Check Application Status

Students will gain a core foundation of knowledge in information security management, security policy and compliance, and security defense mechanisms and tools.

The certificate program may be completed over six months and requires completion of 15 credits (five courses).

ISM 6575 Security Risk Management and Organizational Cyber Resilience

ISM 6325 Ethical Hacking for Business

ISM 6327 Protecting and Defending Business Digital Assets

ISM 6326 Information Security: Ethics, Regulation and Compliance

Courses are offered in various formats: fully online, hybrid, or face-to-face on weekends or evenings.

Students who complete the first 12 credits of the Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity Management program with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, may be eligible for admission to the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) degree program.  Appropriate courses from the certificate program may be transferred into the MSIS degree program.

The total cost of the certificate program is $15,000 with a cost of $3,000 per course.
