Certificate in Advanced Business Analytics

The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Business Analytics program provides individuals with an advanced understanding of the application of statistical methods, techniques, and tools to large data sets proliferating across organizations, in an effort to address persistent and evolving business problems. Students gain hands on experience in applying statistical methods and techniques through use of decision support systems (DSS), expert systems (ES), business intelligence (BI) reporting tools, in additional to business analytics (BA) data mining tools and data visualization tools.

Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Business Analytics program, participants will possess the skills to secure positions as business analysts and business analytics managers within organizations across a wide range of industries including banking and financial services, insurance, hospitals and healthcare organizations, in addition to traditional information systems and technology consulting enterprises.

  • Admission Requirements

    Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited institution.

    Applicants who hold an undergraduate degree from an institution where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either:

    • TOEFL (minimum scores are: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based)
    • IELTS (minimum score is 6.5)
    • Pearson Test of English – Academic (minimum score is 53)
    • Cambridge English – Advanced
    • Duolingo (test score of 105 or above may substitute for TOEFL or IELTS)


    Applicants can take the Duolingo English Test online at any time without traveling to a test center.

    TOEFL and IELTS test scores are considered official when sent by the testing center directly to our school. When requesting the official scores, please refer to the Florida International University Institution code 5206.

  • Prerequisite

    Students must have completed the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics, or must have completed the equivalent level of course work.

  • Programs of Study

    Students will gain hands on experience in applying statistical methods and techniques through use of decision support systems (DSS), expert systems (ES), business intelligence (BI) reporting tools, in additional to business analytics (BA) data mining tools and data visualization tools.

    The certificate program may be completed over six months and requires completion of 15 credits (five courses).

    • ISM 6217 Data Management
    • ISM 6316 Project Management of Info Sciences
    • QMB 6603 Quantitative Methods for Business
    • ISM 6251 Emerging Technologies


    Courses are offered in various formats- either fully online, hybrid, or face-to-face on weekends or evenings.

  • Career and Educational Path

    Many of our students decide to pursue the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) degree program. Appropriate courses from the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Business Analytics program may be transferred into the MSIS degree program.

  • Tuition and Financial Aid

    The total cost of the certificate program is $15,000 with a cost of $3,000 per course.
