  • Experiential/Case-based learning
    This program will use real-life examples so students can immediately apply their learning, helping them to master the requisite skills while obtaining feedback from experts in the field as well as community leaders.
  • Integrated learning
    Business is a very broad area and this is reflected in the variety of disciplines from which students are able to concentrate. This program introduces students to each of these core disciplines in an integrated fashion.   Students are exposed to these disciplines, helping them to understand how this knowledge can contribute to individual career aspirations. Armed with this foundational knowledge and skills, graduates gain the ability to filter information and helps direct them to specialize later in life through advanced education. 
  • International perspective
    The world is “an oyster” with businesses having more and more of a global footprint. This Business program reflects this trend throughout the curriculum and helps its graduates develop the ability to strategize, mitigate and manage global risks.
  • Transferable skills
    Skills include understanding how an organization operates, critical thinking, communication skills, effective decision-making, quantitative analysis, data analytics, and presentation skills. Business graduates have a wide variety of career choices and have the aptitude required to work in any industry.
  • Focus on long-term skills development

  • Provide direct and constructive feedback to enrich the collective learning experience
  • Enhance the ability to exchange views and debate in a friendly atmosphere

On successful completion of the program, students will:

  • Understand the terminology in the common core disciplines of business, including financial accounting, business law, finance, organizational behavior, business management, marketing, business analytics, and operations management to get a strong grasp on all aspects of business and use this knowledge for organizational decision-making.
  • Import and organize appropriate data to use IBM Watson Analytics, identify and articulate relevant questions to gain insights from the data and be able to recognize existing relationships and patterns in the data that can affect a business/organization.
  • Be introduced to the Lean Six Sigma methodology which utilizes statistical analysis to effectively and efficiently improve business processes.
  • Exhibit an evaluative awareness of legal and ethical issues in international business, and demonstrate the capacity to make good decisions in your personal and professional lives.
  • Investigate and communicate a critical awareness of the political, legal, operational and economic risk, social, and cultural factors that influence international business operations. The concepts, skills and analytical tools taught in this course will enhance students' ability to identify opportunities and risks in the global marketplace and formulate successful international strategies.

After earning the Business Essentials Certification graduates will receive separate certificates in:

  • Business Essentials in a Global Marketplace
  • IBM Watson Analytics
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Within a week from receipt of your application, you will be informed whether or not you have gained acceptance. Application deadline is April 29, 2017. Applications thereafter are considered on a case-by-case basis. This program is highly competitive, therefore priority will be given to fully paid-for applications.

$2,500 for the 10 week program.

Payment Policy: Upon acceptance into the program, a $250 down payment is required. Following acceptance into the program, a $225 payment will be due by each of the following dates:

  • June 12, 2017
  • June 19, 2017
  • June 26, 2017
  • July 3, 2017
  • July 10, 2017

Program fee includes all tuition, books and materials.

A daily schedule and required deliverables will be shared once students submit the first payment.
