Professional Development Seminar

The MIB program offers several Professional Development Seminar (PDS) opportunities for our students to gain experience and knowledge outside of the typical classroom setting. There are two PDS's that students are required to take for successful completion of the program. Students will complete an MIB Prep Workshop and Career Services PDS prior to the end of the first semester.

MIB Team Building Event

This seminar will include classroom exercises, in group-decision making, and problem-solving environments and challenging outdoor exercises to help build the skills needed to work together in the MIB program and succeed in today’s team-based organizations.

MIB Prep Workshop

Upon enrollment in the MIB program, our students participate in a mandatory preparatory workshop. If you do not have an academic background in business, the material in this workshop will teach you the basics in business functions and economics to better equip you with the knowledge to succeed in the program. For students who have a background in business, it will serve as a refresher. This workshop will also help you become familiar with the online learning tool, Canvas, which you will have to use for most of your courses. Some of the material for this workshop is free and some is available for purchase at a nominal cost.

Career Services PDS – BCM6000

Students will have access to their own career counselor, dedicated to helping them develop and strategize their career-growth journey. Students will be required to participate in a fully-online, career-management seminar (BCM 6000), where they will be introduced to their career counselor, proven job search and resume-building techniques, as well as online tools exclusively available to College of Business students.
