Power Up 2021: Reinvent yourself

Amid an era of profound change driven by the pandemic, when more than 2 million women have left the U.S. labor force, evolving and adapting to new circumstances has become critical.

With an eye toward the importance of career reinvention, the FIU Business 2021 Power Up Women's Leadership Summit encouraged participants to "flip the switch." The virtual event, held on March 8, International Women's Day, drew nearly 300 participants.

The Power Up summit featured a presentation on how women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) are creating opportunities to increase the number of women in the workplace.

Speakers included Raquel "Rocky" Egusquiza, newly appointed and first-ever vice president of diversity for the Miami Marlins, and executive coach Shanequa Fleming, CEO of Culture Accelerators.

Two more virtual "Power Up Power Hour" presentations will be held July 8 and November 8, leading up to the 2022 Power Up Women's Leadership Summit, which is expected to be in person.

Now in its sixth year, the FIU Power Up Women's Leadership Summit has sought to empower women at every stage of their careers through expert insight and community-building.
