Downtown MBA Student Learning and Program Outcomes
At the Chapman Graduate School we care very deeply about how well we are accomplishing our mission, how our programs contribute to our overarching goals and how we assure that the institution conforms to specified industry and academic norms. Consequently we are committed to measuring the effectiveness of our programs using a well defined Assurance of Learning process that ensures “accountability and transparency”.
Student Learning Outcomes
In recent times there has been a preponderance of student learning-based models which emphasize that Faculty should model the learning process in consultation with all our stakeholders. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) detail what we aim for our students to know, what they can actually do, and what are their vocational attitudes. These are:
- LO1a: Perform a critical analysis on an industry as a whole, and on a specific company within that industry.
- LO1b: Analyze, determine and manage the business risks that would face a company operating within a particular industry.
- LO1c: Determine “internal and external”, “domestic and global” forces which act upon an organization and affect its performance and structure.
- LO1d: Utilize available information to evaluate the financial position of a firm.
- LO2a: Apply integrative and critical thinking skills to formulate effective business strategies.
- LO2b: Develop performance measures that will interpret the specific results a company is achieving in its market.
- LO2c: Solve business related problems using learned analytical constructs.
- LO2d: Formulate business strategies based on economic and behavioral concepts.
- LO3a: Understand and balance the ethical and legal concerns associated with effective of a business, while considering the concerns of shareholders/owners.
- LO3b: Consider the physical and business community in which the business operates and the relationships that will be developed and maintained.
- LO3c: Pinpoint particular ethical dilemmas that would be related to specific business decisions.
- LO4a: Selection and utilization of information technology in the organization design and management.
- LO4b: Management of group and individual dynamics within the organizational structure, to maximize efficiency and create a comfortable work environment.
- LO4c: Consider the impact of decisions being made both internally and externally based on the available business information.
- LO4d: Recognize and navigate opportunities and challenges that arise from operating in a Global business Environment.
- LO4e: Create and maintain particular cross discipline business relationships that would be of benefit to the organization.
- LO5: Communicate effectively and professionally in the verbal and written forums ideas, opinions, reports, presentations, criticisms and recognitions.
