Apply Online

Doing your PhD application on-line will speed up your application process, reduce errors, and also permits on-line payments, using a credit card, if you have one.

However, the interface is not as smooth as we would like it to be (we are working to improve it), so here are a few tips and suggestions to help you along.

NOTE: Once you have started an online application and are unable to finish in a single session, your data will be automatically saved for you. The next time your start again, GO BACK TO YOUR SAVED DATA -- DO NOT START A NEW APPLICATION. Otherwise the system will get confused among the different versions.

1. A completed application form and processing fee. The application fee is $30. To apply, follow the link: http://www.fiu.edu/gradadm/.

Helpful Tips for FIU's On-Line Application

This brings you to a Web site shared by various educational institutions in Florida, "Florida Academic Counseling and Tracing for Students" (FACTS).

Now here it is a little tricky. Go to Choose a Link along the left side and select: Admissions > Admissions Applications , as shown here:

At the bottom, you are asked:

Do you have a FACTS login? Yes, I have a FACTS login. No, I do not have a FACTS login.

Here, select "No, I do not have a FACTS login." You will be asked to provide a special identifier (ID) and password.

These are words you make up for the special purpose of the application. The reason for doing this is so you can interrupt the entry of application data, and return to it at a later time, to continue entering and revising your application.

You now enter another page, with more "Admissions Application Info & Tips".

At the bottom, there is a menu asking the university where you want to apply. Select:

Next page, select:

Read the text carefully. When ready, select:

Now, (finally!) -- you get to the point where you actually enter data for your online application to the FIU PhD program. Enter your personal information. Also enter:

After completing the required information (*), you can Save and Exit at any time and return later to continue editing your application. Your information is confidential, according to the FACTS ID and Password you selected. You simply go to:

and once again go to "Choose a Link" along the left side and select: Admissions > Admissions Applications

On the next page, at the bottom, you now select: "Yes, I have a FACTS login" and once again select:
