Two additional professors from FIU Business have been inducted as Academy of International Business (AIB) fellows. Sumit Kundu, holder of the James K. Batten Eminent Scholar Chair in International Business and associate dean, international programs; and William Newburry, chair of the Department of International Business and Ryder Eminent Scholar of Global Business, were inducted as AIB fellows in July. This brings to six the number of active AIB fellows whose main affiliation is Florida International University, more than any other university worldwide.
Universities that come closest to FIU are the National University of Singapore and the University of Leeds in the U.K., with four AIB fellows, and Harvard University, Temple University, the University of South Carolina and Northeastern University, with three AIB fellows each.
AIB fellows are part of a select group of distinguished scholars who have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to both AIB and the international business field. In addition to Kundu and Newburry, Mary Ann Von Glinow, holder of the Knight Ridder Eminent Scholar Chair in International Management and director of the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at FIU Business; José de la Torre, an FIU Business emeritus professor; and Marjorie Lyles, a dean's distinguished research fellow, are all AIB fellows. Mira Wilkins, an emeritus professor from FIU's Green School of International and Public Affairs, is also an AIB fellow.
FIU Business is the host institution for the 2021 Annual Meeting of AIB, which is widely recognized as the top conference in the field of international business.
