A continuation of PayTrain Fundamentals, PayTrain Mastery is a comprehensive course providing students with a solid understanding of advanced payroll topics necessary for payroll managers and supervisors. This course is ideal for experienced payroll professionals seeking compliance training, professional development, or CPP certification preparation. For success on the CPP exam, this course should be taken after completing PayTrain Fundamentals.

PayTrain College & University is the American Payroll Association's payroll professional development and certification exam preparation program offered in a university setting. Serving the entire payroll community, this program is ideal for seasoned professionals interested in advancing their careers or sitting for a certification exam, as well as for new hires seeking an understanding of the industry. Enrollees in the program receive live classroom instruction, textbooks, and access to interactive online games and applications to reinforce topics learned.

Florida International University has partnered with the American Payroll Association to offer the PayTrain College & University PayTrain Mastery Program. Whether you are interested in preparing for the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification exams, our courses will help you meet your goals. * To qualify for CPP certification, candidates must have earned three years of payroll experience in the five years prior to taking the exam.

Faculty

Donna L. Brinkman, CPP
SCC, Director of Payroll

Donna L. Brinkman, CPP is the Director, Payroll Shared Services at Bacardi USA Headquarters since July 2011. Prior to assuming this position, Mrs. Brinkman held the position of Director Payroll Services at Lennar Corporation from 2001 -2011. Mrs. Brinkman also held the position of Senior Manager, HR and Payroll for Sunglass Hut International from 1998 - 2001. She began her career in Payroll with the Department of Defense in 1986 and has worked in various levels of payroll with the Federal Government up until 1998.

Mrs. Brinkman has served as the President and Vice President of the Broward County Association of Payroll Professionals and currently volunteers on the APA Hotline Referral Line. Mrs. Brinkman is a long standing member of the American Payroll Association and also a member of the American Accounts Payable Association and Society for Human Resource Management.

Tuition

The program fee of $895 includes tuition and instructional materials. The fee is subject to change and is payable in advance.

Classes are held at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, located at 11200 S.W. 8th Street, Miami. This location is convenient and easily accessible from the Florida Turnpike and the S.W. 8th Street Exit. Directions

Class size is limited. We encourage you to register early to reserve your place in the class.

Please call our office at 305-348-4217, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and we will take your registration and payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card.

In person
Come to the Office of Professional and Executive Education, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and we can process your application. Our location is College of Business Administration, 11200 S.W. 8th Street, CBC 223, Miami, Florida 33199-0001.

Once you have registered, you will receive an email confirming your place in the program.

Registration and Withdrawal Policies

Payment Policy: Program fees are due in full upon acceptance into the program.

Substitution Policy: Qualified substitutes for participants can be accommodated with advance written notice.

Withdrawal Policy: Due to costs associated with establishing, holding, and replacing participant slots, the following guidelines will be implemented:

  • 1 week prior the program: the participant will be charged 50% of the program fee.
  • 2 - 4 weeks prior the program: the participant will be charged 25% of the program fee.
  • The remainder of the above mentioned will be transferred to another program upon receipt of written notice.
