Admission Requirements

Our Healthcare MBA candidates are highly-motivated professionals intent on reaching that next level of leadership success. Admission to the Healthcare MBA program is based on a variety of factors and will be evaluated holistically. Our admissions team carefully screens each application to ensure candidates are an optimal fit for the program demands and objectives.

Admission requirements include:

  • Two years of professional work experience (evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
  • Ability to meet all general university requirements for graduate degree program admission
  • In good standing with all previously attended colleges and universities
  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Grade point average of 3.0 or better based on upper-division coursework. Applicants with less than a 3.0 with strong work experience may be considered.

Application Process

  • STEP 1: Apply for the program

    To apply for the program:

    • Please click here to initiate your graduate application. Select “Create User Account” (Unless you have created one previously). Log-in to system to the application process. Complete all required fields. When you reach the section titled "Major and start term" select appropriate "Admit type" and "Start term" from the dropdown boxes. Immediately after this section you will see an "Intended Major" box, select "Professional MBA Weekend, for concentration select "Healthcare Management" (Or Healthcare Management Online).
    • Enter the program name Healthcare MBA in the online admission form.
    • There is a non-refundable application fee of US $30.00.
    • To expedite the application process, be sure to submit your application's supporting materials to the Healthcare Management Program, even though you are applying online using the university’s graduate online application form.
  • STEP 2: Submit all materials

    1. Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and/or universities. If the official transcripts are not in English, a second copy of the transcript must be evaluated by an official translation agency that is accredited by NACES and sent to our mailing address above. Applicants with foreign educational credentials in a language other than English must provide a translation from a recognized translation agency or official translator. The Graduate Admissions Office, as part of the admissions process, evaluates foreign credentials internally at no cost to the applicant. Some suggested agencies are listed below.

      Translation Services:
    2. Official proof of degree: A notarized copy of the original diploma is required if the degree is not posted on the official transcript

    3. Current resume – detailing your chronological professional experience (two years of professional experience required)

    4. Statement of Purpose —a one-page essay describing your professional goals and reasons for pursuing a master’s degree at Florida International University

    5. Two Recommendation Letters from employers, faculty or professional associates

    6. Applicants who hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from an institution where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either:

      • TOEFL (minimum scores are: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based)
      • IELTS (minimum score is 6.5)
      • Pearson Test of English – Academic (minimum score is 53)
      • Cambridge English – Advanced

      TOEFL and IELTS test scores are considered official when sent by the testing center directly to our school. When requesting the official scores, please refer to the Florida International University Institution code 5206.

    7. Although the GMAT or GRE is not required for this program, you may be asked to take it to strengthen your admission package.

    Florida Residents: Two proofs of residency. Documents must be dated one year prior to the term you are seeking admissions. For a list of acceptable documents please visit the Florida Residency for Tuition page.

    International Applicants:

    International applications who require an F-1 Visa will be required to submit these additional documents to complete their application package:

      1. Bank Letter

      2. Sponsor Letter (Waived if applicant is sponsoring self)

      3. DCF form The Declaration and Certification of Finances must be completed and returned to Graduate Admissions. Applicants are expected to show financial support in the amount of $69,707.00.
