Admission Requirements

  • Hold a four-year Accounting or Business Administration Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Be in good standing with all previously-attended colleges and universities. 
  • Have a minimum upper division grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. Upper division courses are courses offered at the junior level or higher.

GMAT Requirement

A minimum score of 500 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required to show high promise of success in graduate studies.

The GMAT requirement will be waived if the student has a:

  • graduate business degree from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited university or;
  • passed all parts of the CPA exam or;
  • obtained an undergraduate accounting degree from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited school.

TOEFL or IELTS

Applicants who hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from non-English speaking countries must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either:

  • Duolingo (minimum score is 110)
  • TOEFL (minimum scores are: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based)
  • IELTS (minimum score is 6.5)

Test scores are considered official when sent by the testing center directly to our school. When requesting the official scores, please refer to the Florida International University Institution code 5206.

Admissions at the graduate level are competitive and meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

 

Application Process (All Applicants)

  • STEP 1: Apply for the program

    To apply for the program:

    • Complete the online application.
    • There is a non-refundable application fee of US $30.00.

    You may submit this, even if you haven’t yet taken the GMAT or TOEFL.

  • STEP 2: Submit all materials

    Submit all materials to:

    1. Official transcripts: request transcripts from all previously attended colleges and/or universities, in a sealed envelope. If your official transcript is not in English, you must submit two original transcripts from your university. The first set of transcripts must remain in the sealed envelope. The second set of transcripts should be sent to an official translation agency for translation.
    2. Official proof of degree: a copy of the original diploma is required if the degree is not posted on the official transcript. (If you are an FIU bachelor’s or master’s degree graduate, there is no need to have additional transcripts sent.)
    3. Current resume. Submit your current work resume to MACC@fiu.edu.
    4. Applicants who hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from non-English speaking countries must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either:

      • Duolingo (minimum score is 105)
      • TOEFL (minimum scores are: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based)
      • IELTS (minimum score is 6.5)

    Florida Residents: Two proofs of residency. Documents must be dated one year prior to the term you are seeking admissions. For a list of acceptable documents please visit the Florida Residency for Tuition page.

    The Chapman Graduate School of Business offers special GMAT preparation courses throughout the year.

    If you fail to meet one or more of the above criteria, or feel your earned GPA or standardized test scores are not indicative of your ability to be successful in a graduate degree program, please submit additional documentation to augment your application portfolio.

    As this is a competitive program, those candidates with the best combination of GPA and test scores will have first opportunity of acceptance.

    You must submit a completed application packet to be considered. Meeting minimum admission requirements is not a guarantee of admission. If you wish to further strengthen your application, you may also submit up to two letters of recommendation.
