Professional MBA WeekendProgram Details

As a PMBA Weekend student, you will attend one of the top MBA schools in Florida and the U.S.

The Professional MBA (PMBA) Weekend program begins each January, where you will:

  • Collaborate with other upwardly mobile professionals in a dynamic learning environment
  • Access to our Office of Business Career Management to further your professional goals
  • Acquire critical skills in leadership, communication, team building, and other professional capabilities to position you as a polished business professional
  • Experience personalized attention at every step from your dedicated Program Manager/Coordinator
  • Select from elective course offerings in the area(s) of business that interest you the most

Professional development is a life-long process. The Professional MBA program at FIU Business is an important step in that process, but it is neither the beginning nor the end of the acquisition and improvement of new competencies. The mandatory Professional Development Residencies offer a series of instructional modules for MBA students combining crucial fundamentals with exposure to globalized real world experiences. These modules– in a variety of instructional formats throughout the program – are designed to make the MBA graduate savvier, attuned to people and markets and ready to take on new business challenges for a company or for themselves.

As a student in the Professional MBA program, you will be assigned to a dedicated Program Manager or Coordinator from our Student Experience team. They will offer you support in the following areas:

  • Direct point of contact to students regarding personal and academic issues
  • Deliver faculty support regarding course scheduling, and student communications
  • Liaise between students and other departments within FIU
  • Provide academic support such as course registration, program advisement, and preparation for graduation. Notify students regarding account registration holds.
  • Monitor students' progress to ensure that they successfully meet all program requirements
  • Assist in the organization and administration of Professional Development Residencies, and graduation celebrations
  • Facilitate parking access information for enrolled students in the Professional MBA program

What is your favorite spot in Miami?

Venture Cafe is my favorite spot in Miami. It is a great way for people who are new to Miami to make a variety of new professional connections. It is also a place for people who live in Miami to stay on top of trends in business and the entrepreneurial space. Whether you are new to Miami or not, you will make new connections at Venture Cafe.

If you could travel anywhere outside of the US, where would you visit?

I would like to visit Spain where I can trace my family roots to such regions like Catalonia, Spain, and cities such as Caleta de Fuste and Palmas in the Canary Islands.

Program Manager

What is your favorite thing to do with your downtime?

When I am not in the office supporting our students to be successful in their graduate careers, I like to spend time with my family. One of our favorite things to do is skiing. No, I am not talking about water skiing, I am talking about going to Colorado and skiing down the Rocky Mountains. Being in the snow for a little bit is a great getaway for the family (especially a family from Miami)!

Describe your perfect day…

After getting a good night’s sleep, my perfect day would begin with a morning run followed by a large home-made breakfast. Throughout the day I would spend time with my niece, play video games, and workout. Post-workout, I would have a late lunch at a bar and restaurant setting like Flanigan’s with a few of my friends & family. My perfect day would end in attending a Miami Heat game that resulted in a win. Go Heat!
