Seema Pissaris receives Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching

(July 6, 2020) Seema Pissaris, clinical professor of international business, has been honored with the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching by FIU’s Office of the Provost. She will receive the award at the Faculty Convocation Award Ceremony in fall 2020.

Pissaris teaches graduate level courses in entrepreneurship, leadership and social entrepreneurship. She leads an internship project which provides students the practical skills needed to set up their own enterprise and encourages them to work with mentors, alumni and other business advisors.

Pissaris’ research has been published in leading scholarly journals, including Human Resource Management, Leadership & Organization Development Journal, the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, the Journal of Economics and Finance, Advances in Quantitative Analysis of Finance and Accounting, the Journal of Managerial Issues, the Journal of Management Research and the Journal of Banking & Finance.

She was recently named as an FIU Top Scholar for 2020, which celebrates faculty members’ accomplishments in research as well as dedication to excellence in helping achieve FIU’s scholarly mission.

Pissaris was recognized as best professor for the Master of International Business program in 2017. She also held the R. Kirk Landon Teaching and Student Engagement Fellow Award from 2012 to 2015.
