IB Department Chair Newburry honored twice by AIB for scholarship.

(April 12, 2019) William Newburry, chair, Department of International Business and Ryder Eminent Scholar of Global Business, is the first co-recipient of the Cuervo-Cazurra & Newburry Award, given to the scholar who contributed most to the scientific capacity of academics in Latin America and the Caribbean. The award was created by the board of directors of the regional chapter for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Academy of International Business (AIB) to publicly acknowledge the contributions that both Newburry and Alvaro Cuervo- Cazurra of Northeastern University have made to the training of academics from universities in Latin America and the Caribbean. It was delivered for the first time in Cochabama (Bolivia) during the AIB-LAT 2019 conference.

Newburry was also named a Silver Medalist by the Executive Board of AIB, an honor created in recognition of exceptional past contributions to JIBS as part of the celebration of the journal’s 50th anniversary. Honorees were recognized for contributions of at least five significant papers published in the journal.
