Professional Activities

Dr. Oliveira is the Director of Technology and Lecturer of Computer Networks and Information Systems for the College of Business Administration at Florida International University. He has been an active IT professional for the past 30 years, during which time he has served as hardware and software designer of industrial control systems, cryptographic data communications equipment, and large area data networks. Throughout his professional career, Dr. Oliveira participated in prominent IT hardware and software development projects for several Brazilian Federal Government Agencies. His main area of expertise has been data communication equipment and networks.

Dr. Oliveira has been the Director of Technology at FIUs College of Business Administration since 1997. There, he manages the support for information technology initiatives for curricular and administrative activities, providing networking and teaching technologies infrastructure and serves as consultant for decisions involving adoption of new technologies.

Dr. Oliveira’s publications include "An Empirical Study of the Effectiveness of Relationships between End-Users and Central Information Services," Journal of Information Technology Management (co-authored with Joyce J. Elam and Daniel Robey); and "Understanding and Controlling Fallacies in Analyses with Data Aggregation: An Approach to MIS Research," presented at the Decision Sciences Institute 26th Annual Meeting.
