Professional Activities

As organizations differentiate themselves through more effectively using their knowledge, data and information resources, their capability to design, develop and deploy information systems is of increasingly competitive importance. Dr. Darcy’s research focus is on reducing the impact of essential difficulties in system development including software complexity and programmer learning.

He has been widely published in leading journals such as IEEE Software, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and Statistical Science, and in proceedings of leading conferences including the International Conference on Information Systems and the Workshop on IT & Systems. He has been listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.

He has received a range of awards and grants including a Fulbright Scholarship, a Steelmet Fellowship and grants from the National Technical Services Association, Institute for Industrial Competitiveness, DARPA, Center for Electronic Markets and Enterprises and the Fraunhofer Center for Experimental Software Engineering.

Dr. Darcy has taught at the Irish Management Institute; Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland; School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University; Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh; and the Schools of Business (Smurfit & Quinn), University College Dublin.
